The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 1 Quick Review (No spoilers)

As said in my last post, I currently have little time for blogging but after seeing the new hunger games it feels like a crime to not give it a quick review.

This film had  a lot going for it: a good cast (and I mean a really really good cast), a great CGI team and the support of a awesome soundtrack.
Before focusing on the negatives I want to give a  huge shout out to the casting crew, at least 3 / 4 of the cast were named / recognisable actors (even for the little parts). Sauls wife from homeland, the baddie in transporter 3, Julianne Moore - there's just too many to list!

Now the negatives which for me was the film. Going against the norm and risking getting burnt on the stake, I want to say for me the film felt flat. It just didn't have the action or excitement of the previous films. Before I get loads of hate comments, I know that part 1's usually build up for an epic part 2 film and I get that it was made in relation to the book but... some deviation into action would have been much appreciated.
If you look back to my hunger games posts I said how much I wanted to see more of kandis being an archer, due to the lack of action we barely got a teaser for what's to come. My friends who have read the books have reassure me that the next film would be action packed and my personal favourite - full of blood. I am not expecting "the raid" type action but its a war so some action would be nice.

Overall I give The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 1 a 6.9 / 10. Not even Jennifer Lawrence's outstanding performance was enough to save it. I am just hoping part 2 can reach to the 8+ / 10 regions because I really enjoyed the first two films.

Also, now I have your attention I just want to say that plagiarism is unacceptable in the film industry. That is aimed at you Julian Moore! One line in this film was "no sacrifice, no victory" which is Optimus prime's famous quote. I don't know why but for me, this is an unforgivable crime!

Again, sorry to keep it short and sweet (like me) but I really do have little time to blog right now.

Happy Reading :)
